SCCF's mission is to protect and care for Southwest Florida's coastal ecosystems through its focus on Water Quality Research, Policy and Advocacy, Sea Turtles and Shorebirds, Native Landscaping, Habitat and Wildlife Management, and Environmental Education.
SCCF offers a wide array of educational programs for people of all ages, through Sanibel Sea School. We invite the public to visit us at our Native Landscapes & Garden Center at the Bailey Homestead Preserve. Come check out our demonstration gardens and learn about the value of native plants!
Since its incorporation in 1967, SCCF has grown its standing as a land trust, to date preserving approximately 2,000 acres of environmentally sensitive land on Sanibel, other Southwest Florida barrier islands including North Captiva, and in the cities of Cape Coral, and Fort Myers.
Throughout Sanibel, we offer eight miles of trails in preserves that are open from dawn to dusk. We have four miles of trails through interior wetlands along the Sanibel Slough at the Erick Lindblad Preserve, which is accessible through the parking lot at our main office at 3333 Sanibel-Captiva Rd. CLICK HERE for a site map and description of our facilities and trails on Sanibel Island.
Our Marine Lab at Tarpon Bay is one of the region’s top research facilities with restoration efforts underway on seagrass beds, oyster reefs, and mangroves.
We invite you to come explore our natural world!
